Repairs where neighbouring roofs meet
The council’s Armley appraisal records both stone slate and Welsh slate on older buildings along Town Street near Armley Moor. For a repair to an older roof, first establish which covering is present and how it meets later work. On an adjoining property, the chimney flashing and connection to the neighbouring slope should be included in the inspection, not left outside an otherwise clear repair quote.

Finding the cause
Ask whether the proposed repair resolves the water entry point or only replaces damaged covering nearby. Where adjacent roofs have different materials or heights, the junction needs a compatible detail and a clearly agreed limit to the work.
Planning your roofing work
Include the route to the rear elevation and whether a neighbour’s land would be needed for access. Agree any shared arrangements before equipment is booked.
What belongs in your quote
A clear quote sets out the materials, access and waste removal, as well as the repair itself. It should also explain what happens if opening the roof reveals further damage, so you know how any extra work will be agreed.
Use the roofing quotation checklist or understand the main cost factors.
