Leaks around dormers and extensions
The council appraisal records slate roofs across Chapel Allerton’s historic core, villa area and later short terraces, with substantial chimney stacks on some of the latter. If your home has been extended or its loft altered, the new section may use a different roof system. An inspection should follow the connection between them and check nearby chimney flashing before attributing the leak to the main slates.

Finding the cause
If a leak follows a dormer or extension alteration, ask whether the junction has been detailed correctly and whether the existing covering was disturbed. A good quotation describes the remedy at that connection, not just replacement of the visible damaged tiles.
Planning your roofing work
Include side-passage width, rear extensions and the positions of neighbouring roofs. If scaffolding would affect shared access, settle the arrangement before confirming the programme.
What belongs in your quote
A clear quote sets out the materials, access and waste removal, as well as the repair itself. It should also explain what happens if opening the roof reveals further damage, so you know how any extra work will be agreed.
Use the roofing quotation checklist or understand the main cost factors.
